Iron Deficiency in Patients Presenting with Somatic Symptoms and their Outcome with IV Iron Therapy

Objectives: To determine the effect of IV iron therapy on patients with Iron deficiency presenting somatic symptoms. Materials and Methods: The design this study was Quasi-experimental conducted in Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana. This duration 6 months from July 2022–Dec 2022. Totally 90 were enrolled. 5ml venous blood sample collected each patient sent to laboratory hospital for complete count serum ferritin level. Patients treated iron. Then after eight-week treatment followed again EDTA containing tube. Serum level evaluated at end 8 weeks. Somatic scoring scale used assess symptom burden before therapy. Results: Out patients, 40.0% male 60.0% female mean age 39.70± 7.30 years. Most group 41-50 years, by 31-40 years least number 20-30 difference score our enrolled 7.01±0.33 P-value <0.05. Ferritin between Pre-Treatment Post-Treatment found 37.28±-2.6 (ng/ml) Practical implication: present will help doctors treat symptoms priority basis using That lead early also avoid further complication miss diagnosis patients.
